News From the Fund

What Does the Future of The Atlas Uriah Fund Look Like?

With several regular, sacrificial individual financial partners and a few Church congregations who give monthly, and the help of Rock Solid Ministries, the financial growth has steadily continued beyond our current spending. We are exceeding our goals and looking to an expanded ministry.

From thinking we would do one small scholarship “in a few years”, the AUF has grown to facilitate preaching camps each of the last three Summers and has just added a third scholarship recipient for this Fall. That scholarship has evolved into at $7,000 scholarship (in a four year program) for each student, given in increasing amounts every two semesters. We also envision not only continual Enduring Light Preaching Camps on the campus of Mid-South Christian College, but – with the partnership of Rock Solid Ministries – hope to reach out to older men with weekend events regionally to teach the basics of Bible interpretation and preaching.

All this has happened while God has continued to grow our investment fund (located with The Solomon Foundation) beyond our initial goals! Because of this, it is our extreme privilege to do three things:

  1. Continue to prepare young men to faithfully deliver God’s Word to His Church and to a lost world,
  2. Discern and walk the fine line between saving for the future and using the money aggressively to accomplish the mission,
  3. And stay out of God’s way – never walking ahead of Him, but never limiting what He wants to accomplish through our financial partners.

In short, the future looks bright. Thanks to our God working through our financial partners who share our vision. If that’s you – THANK YOU! If not, we hope you’ll join with us in our mission to raise up a new generation of preachers.

Rock Solid Ministries Continues Vital Financial Partnership with the AUF

Following their annual meeting early in July, Rock Solid Ministries (RSM) announced that they will extend their financial partnership with The Atlas Uriah Fund (AUF) for at least another year. RSM is a revival ministry directed by Brother Tom Weaver, based in Corinth, MS. For the last twenty years, RSM has offered over 700 revival meetings, “revivinars” (congregation reviving seminars), and concerts free of charge to any congregation that cared to ask them to come. There ministry has taken them to 30 US states and 5 Canadian provinces.

Since their inception in 2004, RSM has always given a portion of their own supporter-based income to a mission of their choosing. Of the 15% of their income that they now give to other Kingdom ministries, 5% – since 2023 – has been given to AUF. Their financial commitment to help AUF grow in 2025 – as well as their free contribution of time as part of the Enduring Light Preaching Camp teaching staff yearly – is helping AUF achieve our goals.

2nd Preaching Camp a Great Success!

With the wonderful week we had under our belts instructed by the brothers from GAP, The Atlas Uriah Fund sponsored their 2nd preaching camp – now known as Enduring Light Preaching Camp (ELPC). After months of “prayer-peration” and study, our new staff of almost 100 years preaching experience was set to welcome this year’s crop of 13-19 year old boys to our new home – the campus of Mid-South Christian College, Memphis, TN.

With the move to the college campus, we enjoyed not only great classrooms, but a commercial kitchen, chapel, and not least of all, a library! The library enabled the instructors to introduce the boys to some great study tools for their sermon preparation.

As always, they studied hermeneutics, homiletics, “preaching 101”, and public speaking/public speaking lab. One of the college staff that listened-in, noted that the classes were on-par with (if not exceeding) the teaching the college gives! That doesn’t mean the college is lacking – it means ELPC is teaching great stuff! The young men worked hard and spent almost eight hours a day in classroom lectures and sermon preparation. Evenings included some recreation, but then more time in the Word during chapel.

In a little different method this year, the young men were assigned their Bible passages – all from the first two chapters of Philippians. This worked great because it allowed both students and instructors a little time before camp studying the book, and the boys didn’t have to spend a lot of time deciding what they would preach on – they were able to jump right into their passage on Monday morning!

Six young men arrived – three from last year and three new to the camp. When Wednesday night came, there were six great sermons preached at ChristView Christian Church in Southaven, MS.

Don’t let the young men in your congregation miss this great opportunity next year!

Exciting News of Growth!

A New Partnership:
As word of the fund has continued to grow, contributors – regular, sporadic, and one-time’rs – have begun to share with us from across the nation. Beginning to see what we’ve only dreamed of – a lasting fund that could finance preacher training in a variety of ways – we wanted to be sure that our supporters knew the kind gifts they made were being carefully watched and responsibly used. Our partnership with Mid-South Christian College allows our books to be under the umbrella of the college’s financial accountability and yearly voluntary audits. The partnership helps Mid-South by working closely with a ministry that can not only promote their school and encourage preaching students to attend but also give them a partnership with a ministry to help fund the training of those students. We are thankful for Bro. Larry Griffin, President, and the members of the college board for welcoming us aboard.

Our First Big Project!

Mail-outs went across the Mid-South (Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama) this past Spring to all of our sister congregations, asking them to send their young men aged 13-19 to our first-ever preaching camp – sponsored, in full, by The Atlas Uriah Fund. The Mississippi Christian Camp just outside Newton, Mississippi, was secured; the meals were planned; everything was readied. Then the first full week of July, we welcomed seven young men to Go And Proclaim’s (GAP) newest preaching camp!

GAP has been doing such preaching camps in Ohio and Kentucky for several years now. We wanted to take the opportunity to expand the offering to our region of the country. The program takes young men, many if not most, who have never preached a sermon before on Sunday afternoon – begins teaching them that evening – and by Wednesday night puts them in a local pulpit where they preach a sermon before a real congregation!

The students had classes in: Public Speaking, Hermeneutics (the science of interpreting language), and Homiletics (how to transform their understanding of the Bible into a sermon). They sat through these classes, participated in speaking labs, studied the passage they’d selected for the week, and – guided by the GAP staff, as well as three of the AUF board member-preachers – prepared for Wednesday night.

The young men, who actually ended up ranging from ten to sixteen, all did a fabulous job. The camp was a great success, and we are already planning for next year’s version – excited to make tweaks to reach more young men and do an even better job teaching them. Stay tuned for information on that! And – please – encourage young men you know to attend and hear the call God may be placing on their life to preach!

In other news, the board of the AUF will be meeting soon to approve amounts for scholarships for the Fall of 2022 and Spring of 2023! The exciting response of God’s people to our work has enabled us to begin doing this much sooner than we previously expected. Pray that we will find the right young men who: a) need the help most, and b) will utilize the opportunity the greatest in God’s Kingdom.

Thank you so much to those who are supporting the AUF on a regular basis! You are making a great difference in the Kingdom!

Getting Off to a Quick Start!

We haven’t posted here in a while, but that doesn’t mean we’ve not been busy! We have had new opportunities arise, as well as planned work moving forward. At the same time that God was inspiring us to begin this scholarship fund to prepare more preachers for His Church, God was working in and through…

December 2021 News from the Fund

The board met again at the end of November. A lot of things had been accomplished since we last met. This website was set up…Facebook page made…promotional materials printed…scholarship application formed. All these were smaller but necessary things. But then two big things have happened and been decided since the last meeting – having to…

Have You Seen Tim?

I suppose I was just an average, ordinary thirteen year old kid. What’s now referred to as a “middle-schooler”. Self-aware, awkward…annoying… all that. But there was a man who was looking beyond the present, outer package. There was a man who was looking for potential. This man, approaching his retirement, pulled me aside – a…

Just a “Heads-Up”

Did y’all know it’s October? (Just barely yet! We are almost to November!) October means “Preacher Appreciation Month”. You know, I can say these things now that I’m not a “in-the-pulpit-every-week/same-place-every-week” preacher, so… Respect PreachersPreachers used to be respected. Even if you didn’t believe the Bible, most people respected preachers. The government wouldn’t draft preachers…

What’s Going on with the Fund Currently?

To answer that question… A LOT! We are SUPER-THANKFUL to Antioch Christian Church for overseeing and being the brainchild of this project. Wow! But few of us probably imagined what it would take to actually DO! So – here’s a brief of what’s been done – and what then YOU can do! Establish a board.…
