Getting Off to a Quick Start!

We haven’t posted here in a while, but that doesn’t mean we’ve not been busy! We have had new opportunities arise, as well as planned work moving forward.

At the same time that God was inspiring us to begin this scholarship fund to prepare more preachers for His Church, God was working in and through another friend of ours. Preacher Victor Lyons in Memphis, Tennessee, was also seeing the need. He was moved to begin a preaching school under the umbrella of Mid-South Christian College that would give the Church more doctrinally solid Restoration Movement preachers. We see his ministry, the International Center for Contemporary Preaching (ICCP), as one of a few good places to send the men who would receive our scholarship.

So, when the ICCP was dedicated and opened on January 9th, three of the Memorial board members were there. The Atlas Uriah Fund paid for the four young boys and two sponsors (also preaching students) of Antioch Christian Church’s preaching class to attend as well. It was important that we begin introducing young men to further opportunities to learn. And those boys really came eager!

Outfitted with their class backpacks of pen, paper, and Bible (and “tactical patches” they receive for memory work and other such things), they worshipped wholeheartedly and listened intently to the message. After the program, they busied themselves interviewing preachers who attended – asking all kinds of pertinent questions about teaching.

Plans have also moved forward. In talks with GAP (Go And Proclaim) Preaching Camps, sponsored by The Christian Restoration Association (CRA), they have agreed to bring the camp to us this Summer! This is really exciting in comparison to us taking boys from Mississippi to Ohio for a week. Please be in prayer for: boys ages 13-19 that will be interested in attending (Do you have any to send or encourage to go?) and plans with the CRA to work-out well.

In addition, we also have enabled monthly giving online. And, please note, there has been some confusing about our online giving platform…

“I don’t want to give online because I want the whole amount to go to the Fund.”

The Atlas Uriah Strickland Memorial Preaching Scholarship will receive all funds you send! Give Butter (our online platform) doesn’t take a percentage. There is a small credit card fee they will add (to you), and they will ask you for a “tip” and suggest an amount. If you wish to “tip” Give Butter, you may, but it is not required. Simply hit “Other” and put “0” in the dollar amount.

But as always, you can simply mail a check to our address on the homepage of this website.

We thank you for your continued prayers and support!

Evan Strickland (Back Right) with his four preaching students from Antioch Christian Church and two sponsors.
